Praise Him in the hallway...

As you can probably note from the photographs, its raining but I'm still shooting. Ha!
Thats life though, sometimes its got to go on despite whats going on around us.
In my down moments, I'm gently reminded of my responsibilities and for that reason I have to pick myself up and get on with it. However, its been difficult lately, I've had doors of opportunity close when I thought they were meant to be open. As a result, I've faced depression, disappointment and discouragement and it hasn't been easy to get back up.
What do you do when you are knocked down and you feel like you can't get back up?

  1. Surround yourself with the right (positive) people.
  2. Remind yourself what the Word of God says - read the Bible in difficult times there is so much wisdom, truth and comfort found in it.
  3. Fix your mind - frankly speaking, when you are down and going through what seems like a storm its difficult to be positive about life but you have to dust yourself up and think positive.

God has a reason for allowing things to happen, we may never understand his wisdom, but we have to be obedient and trust in His will for our lives. Jeremiah 29 verse 11Proverbs 16 verse 1, 3, 9
Also trust that whatever is behind is most likely not meant for you and move on from it, for no good thing will He withhold, Psalms 84 verse 11
Remember that God is faithful and He will see you through.
"When he opens a door, no one can close it, and when he closes it, no one can open it. I know what you do, I know that you have a little power, you have followed my teaching and have been faithful to me. I have opened a door in front of you, which no one can close"(Revelations 3 verse 7 to 8). Wait for it, theres a door with your name on it.
Oh, if you could just praise him!

Last week I mentioned I was going to share on what has been some of my greatest struggles in my pursuit to be Christ-like.
Without revealing too much information as this is a very personal topic I am going to try my level best to let you all in on 'Being Me'.
The journey hasn't been smooth at all (still isn't) but there has to be two main areas I could say have been significantly of great challenge. The first one is that I tend to live in this bubbly world of perfectionism that in reality is non-existent but because I have set my life to operate in that manner, if things don't go the way I expect them to, I literally freeze. In that instance, my life stops and I catch up with it later. Terrible that is, as you can imagine. The problem being the effect that this has on my Christ walk amongst everything else.
Secondly, without going deep into too much detail I will simply use this verse from 1 John 4 verse 20 to summarise, it reads: 'if anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother/sister, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother/sister whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen.'
Oh boy!
For a very long time both have been constraints in my pursuit to become Christ-like. However, over the years I've acknowledged what it is to be of God and have tremendously worked on different weakness areas in my life.
Here's what I've learnt in the process, you can't change what you've learnt to tolerate. The first step to redemption is to acknowledge your wrong doings, repent and completely walk away.
For myself, I had done this a very long time ago when I gave my life to Christ in my teenage years & when I got baptised that sealed the deal.
I can boldly confess that I have been set free from things that used to bound me before (so far so good).
& maybe today you are reading this post and you don't yet know Jesus, I urge you to check out this post (click here and scroll down to & On That Day) for the prayer of salvation.
Or maybe you already are a Christian and would like to step into a covenant with your Saviour by declaring your salvation publicly by getting baptised. Find out more from your local church and I would love to know if you do get baptised.
Thank you for reading my blog. I hope you have been blessed.
